that sinister duo cold and cough
have left me worn and rough
while externally I thought was tough
my insides have now turned to fluff

eyes are watery red and crying
people look at me as I am dying
the medication is not working but I am trying
do I look like I am joking or lying

soup should help but it did not
tea will soothe but it could not
against cold and cough we fought
but drippy havoc has been wrought

forehead aches I sniff like a pup
nights without end getting tough
cold and cough cold and cough
leave me alone done enough
